Saudi GASTAT completes first phase of census data collection
Riyadh: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) announced on Thursday, June 16, 2022 the successful completion of the first phase of its data collection for the 2022 Saudi census and the start of the data analysis and processing phase , in which the quality of the data is analyzed and confirmed.
GASTAT explained that the data analysis and processing phase goes through many statistical procedures, depending on the methodologies used, to ensure the quality and validity of the data. These procedures include fieldwork and communication with heads of households and providing the self-enumeration link to a limited group of citizens and residents to confirm and complete the data. GASTAT asks everyone to cooperate with census enumerators during this phase.
The Authority recalls that fines must be imposed on offenders who have refused to provide data or who have deliberately interrupted the census work during the previous phase; and that under the General Statistics Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. 23 of 7/12/1397 AH, notices which have been distributed to offenders.
GASTAT confirmed that the preliminary release of census data will take place before the end of 2022. He also praised the cooperation of citizens and residents with census enumerators during their visits. He appreciated their interaction during the different phases of the census, in particular the self-enumeration method, which was very popular with the public. GASTAT also appreciated the staff working on the Saudi Census 2022 project, who carried out their tasks efficiently.
‘Saudi Census 2022’ is the fifth census in the history of the Kingdom. It aims to cover the entire population, collecting accurate statistical data that will help formulate policies, prepare plans and direct projects according to the needs of the population in all regions of the Kingdom.
